This position is with Integrated Food Service and is based in Gardena, California. This position requires being based in LA to be on premises at their 4 facilities.

About Integrated Food Service:

Integrated Food Service is a 4th generation family-run company that has been in business since 1991.  They are located in Gardena and manufacture food products for schools and distributors in about 40 states as well as product a wide variety of items for private-label, retail clients. They own and operate a state-of-the-art facility which includes two USDA processing plants, a wholesale bakery and a dry warehouse which total over 100,000 square feet on five acres. Their products consist of grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, breakfast items, quesadillas, chalupas, tacos and many other items.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking an entrepreneurial individual who is passionate about making a difference, to work as a Safety Manager. This job requires professionalism and a strong knowledge and experience in implementing OSHA requirements.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Specific job duties entail:

  • Develop, implement and evaluate programs and procedures for all facilities t09 enhance safety awareness and compliance with state and federal regulations as well as corporate guidelines and policies.

  • Safety inspections & training to cover safety training program required by federal or state codes

  • Analyze statistical and cause-analyses data to assist in the development of hazard identification and prevention activities.

  • Coordinate and lead site safety inspections, audits, assessments and surveys to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and best practices, as well as established procedures and requirements.

  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing employees on pertinent safety and health topics to meet location needs and sustain and improve performance, including contingency program

  • Facilitate all incident investigations and reports. Lead investigations to determine the root cause of such incident. Develop effective actions to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Assist and advise management on safety and loss control matters, including providing performance data/analysis and recommendations for improvement.

  • Audit and inspect plant and procedures for compliance with Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

  • Ensure safe job practices are followed, protective equipment is utilized and all machine/process guards are in place and operational.

  • Coordinate with worker’s compensation insurance to identify and implement corrective action for any safety related issues and recommendations from insurance carrier.

  • Oversee preparation of Occupational Safety & Health Administration - OSHA 300 logs and other required reporting.

  • Provide written reports of safety related issues/results to senior management on a periodic basis or as requested.

  • Manage and develop the safety team to accomplish the overall safety objectives, including safety incentives and wellness program

  • Provide and report accident & injury investigation reports.

  • Create and update contingency plan book including posting of fire Evacuation Plans, fire extinguisher locations SDS locations, and first aid locations as well as blood-borne kits

Requirements:

  • 6+ year’s relevant experience in Occupational Health and Safety at a food manufacturing plant, with 4+ years in a management position.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in implementing Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and other legal/regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization (English/Spanish)
